Who we are...
January 23, 2021

Heaven's Road is a group dedicated to sharing the testimony of Jesus Christ with others that do not know Him. We want to pray and help those in need within our community and around the world for God's glory and not of our own. We are simply servants of almighty God, our heavenly Father who loves us so much that He sent His own Son to die on the cross for our sins. This is a new group that I felt led by God to create and looking for some brothers or sisters in Christ to help manage or coordinate this group as a way in fellowship with each other. May God receive all glory, honor and praise for this work.

Brother: Kirk Gray

I have a praise:

I haven't been sleeping well due to back pain I've been experiencing. I went to see my orthopedic doctor a couple of weeks ago and he referred me to a surgeon to determine if I need surgery or more spinal injections. I saw the surgeon this afternoon and come to find out I don't need back surgery at this time which I was happy to hear. I may have to do more spinal injections, but I will take the injections over surgery any day. I've already had two back surgeries and sure didn't want to go for a third one. Anyway, I thank God for this news!

Proverbs 16:9
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”

How often do we get caught up in the day-to-day and lose sight of what’s really important for our eternal life? Don’t get me wrong…there is a LOT going on in the world today and we may find ourselves questioning the why behind some things. This can certainly bleed into our personal and professional lives, causing disruption to our normal routines. Keeping our eyes and focus on Jesus will help get us through our tough, confusing, and unknown times.

As I begin each day, it is so refreshing to take a few moments of solitude, meditation, and prayer to ensure that I’m allowing Jesus the opportunity to talk to me and provide guidance for that day. And, often times, my days don’t go nearly as I had planned, but I have the wonderful reassurance of a verse like Proverbs 16:9 to remind me that God is always in control. This allows me to take a moment to breathe when I encounter something that is different than what I had planned or some big crisis that I happen to be experiencing. Having my faith and focus on Jesus allows me to work through these difficult times and truly let Jesus “take the wheel.”

It can be overwhelming to think about our future and what our children and grandchildren will experience as they grow older. I can only hope that my legacy will be strong with them, so they know whole-heartedly my devotion and love for them as well as for Jesus Christ. And, that one day, we will be reunited in our glorious, heavenly home where we can praise God and enjoy all of His intended blessings…all while ensuring we’re keeping our earthly eyes on Jesus and understanding that God will not lead us to something that He won’t get us through. Our days may not go as we plan, but God knows what His plans are for us, and He will determine our steps that eventually lead us to be with Him in our eternal home.

May God Bless You,
Jenn Matthews

Mark’s message: A Birth and Preparation of Jesus, The Servant

Mark 71-23 "That Which Defiles"

7 The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus 2 and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3 (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. 4 When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.)

5 So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?”

6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:

“‘These people honor me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me.

7 They worship me in vain;

their teachings are merely human rules.’

8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ 11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)— 12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” [16]

17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Plan of Salvation: How to become a Child of God

Salvation through Our LORD, Jesus Christ

God, who is full of love, mercy and grace wanted to save you and me from our sins which is death. The penalty for our sins is total separation from God for eternity. God loves us so much, that He had a plan of salvation that would save not just you and me, but the entire world. There is only one road to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. God sent His only begotten Son to earth in form of God and man and He was sacrificed for us because Jesus took our sin debt for us, so that we could be set free from the bondage of sin and spend eternity with God. Jesus was beaten, cursed at, and a crown of thorns was placed on His head. He was nailed to a cross at a place called Calvary where he suffered, shed His blood and died for our sins, past, present and future sins for the entire world. That’s how much God loves you. It’s a free gift that God has given to us. All you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and ask him to come into your heart and to forgive you of your sins. Jesus will work in your life and change your life that is full of joy, love and happiness. Yes, because we are saved does not mean that we’re perfect or that we won’t face troubles or illnesses in our lives. God uses certain situations to get our attention and to strengthen our faith and trust in Him. God has the best plan for our lives and trust me, it’s all worth it. To ask Jesus into your life, pray this simple prayer below and if you are sincere, then you will be saved and your name will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and will never be erased. God will send a helper, the Holy Spirit to help guide you on your new journey to heaven. So come and join the family of God!

To become a child of God, pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. If you sincerely asked Jesus into heart and life, welcome to the family, God’s family my brother and sister in Christ. We are so glad you are part of the family.

In Christ’s Love,

Heaven’s Road
